Bridging the present and the past
A Palestinian pop-up café aiming to honor and preserve our culture
Who We Are
This space will be a chance for us to be Palestinians together.
Tabaria Café was founded in January 2024 by Fatima Mahmoud, a Palestinian born and raised in Syria. After quitting her part-time job in July 2023, Fatima started Tabaria as a home café, offering a simple menu to friends and family. After the attack on Gaza, after endlessly protesting and feeling guilty and helpless; she has decided to turn Tabaria into something bigger—a community space for those who support the Palestinian cause.
As a Palestinian born in exile, Fatima often feels disconnected from her heritage. Tabaria Café is her way of holding onto that part of herself while creating a space for others to do the same. It’s a place for Palestinians to reconnect with their culture and for others to learn more about it.
This space will be a chance for us to be Palestinians together. At demonstrations we often chant “we are all Palestinians.” If we are all Palestinians, then we should have a space to learn more about Palestine and its culture. It’s not just war and occupation; it’s much more, and the occupation is trying to bury that part of Palestine.
Let’s not stop talking about what’s happening in Gaza, in the West Bank, and all over occupied Palestine, but let’s also talk about the people of Palestine. We’re not just numbers on a screen. We’re human—we have dreams, hobbies and talents just like you.
This project is a message to the occupation and its allies:
“You will dehumanise us, and we will humanise us again”
Tabaria Cafe commits to donating 50% of its proceeds to Palestine, with the remaining 50% reinvested into future pop-ups, making Tabaria Cafe a non-profit organisation.
